Talas AI Value Creation Assessments
Driving transformative changes requires seeing the complete picture of an organization clearly. Talas AI Value Creation Assessments provide a structured process for building a comprehensive assessment of where AI can move EBITDA inside a company, and what it will take to get there. We map the work in each function that matters to the P&L, find the real bottlenecks, and hand back a roadmap ordered by impact.
The Talas AI Value Creation Assessment process
CEO and board interviews
We start at the top, with the CEO and the board. Together we find the biggest areas of opportunity on the P&L, and get a clear picture of how the company is adopting AI today. That sets the priorities for everything that follows.
Comprehensive team interviews
Next, we interview the teams doing the work, across go-to-market, customer success, support, product, engineering and marketing. We learn how they use AI today, where the biggest bottlenecks are, whether or not they involve AI, and what's been tried before and why it didn't stick. Where interviews can't give a full picture, we add a short anonymous survey.
Targeted investigation into opportunities
Once we've found a critical bottleneck or opportunity, we go deeper where it's needed. We work with the team to review their current tooling and processes, inside the platforms and tools they already use, so our recommendations fit how they really work.
Creation of the Talas AI Value Creation Readout
We bring it together in a readout for the CEO and the board, with a roadmap ordered by impact. Here's what's in it.
What's in a Talas AI Value Creation Assessment readout?
How your teams feel about AI
An honest read of each team's appetite for change, which tells you how fast change can realistically go.
AI maturity, function by function
We rank how mature each function is in its use of AI, from go-to-market to engineering, so you can see where the company is ahead and where it's behind.
Opportunities mapped to the value creation levers
Every opportunity is mapped to the lever it moves (growing revenue, expanding margins, strategic acquisitions, paying down debt or expanding the exit multiple) and ordered by both impact and complexity.
A Now, Next, Later roadmap with recommended projects
- Now: quick wins within one quarter.
- Next: near-term changes over two to three quarters.
- Later: deeper transformation over three to four quarters.
A set of baseline metrics for each opportunity to measure against
Before any work starts, we record the current value of every metric we expect to move. That's what lets you say later what the work actually delivered.
How we score: a five-dimension rubric
Every interview is scored on the same five dimensions. Scores describe the state of a workflow and the systems around it, so the assessment rates the work, not the people doing it.
Process maturity
How documented and repeatable the workflow is today.
Data and systems readiness
Whether the data and systems a solution would need are accessible and connected.
Current AI adoption
How much the team already uses AI, and how well.
Team change appetite
How ready the team is to change the way it works.
Opportunity density
How much value is concentrated in the workflow.
Questions we often hear
How long does an assessment take?
Typically eight to ten weeks, including five to six weeks of discovery.
Who commissions it?
Usually the PE or growth equity sponsor, with the company's CEO as the internal sponsor. A company can also commission one directly.
What happens after the readout?
You can take the Now opportunities straight into a forward-deployed engineering engagement, or run them with your own team, and track the results on the Talas AI Portfolio Ops Platform.
